A new chapter begins

Today, we made an important step in bridging the gap between AI as a technology innovation to AI becoming a practical daily aid for the creative process. Spring isn't just an AI tool. It's a design toolkit built specifically for packaging designers. Our mission is clear: empower designers to focus on creativity, not technology.

When we founded Sourceful in 2020, our goal was simple: solve real problems in the packaging supply chain. But along the way, something became clear. Packaging designers were wrestling with fragmented workflows, technical limitations, and tools that didn’t understand their specific needs. The real challenge wasn't about having technology—it was about applying it meaningfully.

Where we started

We began Sourceful to transform how brands create packaging. We combined deep industry expertise with innovative technology, helping designers produce better packaging faster. Yet, we soon realised the tools available didn't match the unique challenges packaging designers face every day.

Understanding the challenge

We watched talented designers spend hours moving between tools—concept generation in one, mapping designs onto packaging templates in another, visualising in a third, and managing feedback across multiple platforms. This process created friction, slowed creativity, and diluted the impact of their work.

Meanwhile, rapid advancements in AI technology provided an opportunity to do something genuinely impactful: create a specialised toolkit tailored precisely to packaging design. Not generic AI, but AI with a deep understanding of packaging structures, materials, and branding.

Introducing the new Spring

Spring is now the AI-powered toolkit specifically built for packaging designers. But make no mistake—this isn't about the AI technology itself. It's about what AI enables: rapid ideation, effortless visualisations, real-time editing, and seamless collaboration.

We’ve reimagined every aspect of the design workflow:

1. Rapid ideation

Transform inspiration into multiple design concepts in minutes. Spring's AI is trained explicitly on packaging—structures, materials, brand conventions—generating diverse, meaningful concepts at unprecedented speed.

2. Instant visualisation

Forget manual renderings. Spring instantly visualises your artwork on realistic, 3D packaging templates. The technology automatically handles complex details, freeing you to immediately see and share realistic visuals.

3. Real-time editing

Edit directly in Spring, with changes reflected instantly in visualisations. Instantly vectorise images to editable artwork, eliminating the need to switch between multiple programs.

4. Seamless collaboration

Spring brings all stakeholders into a unified workspace. Feedback is captured in context, dramatically reducing revision cycles and aligning teams faster than ever before.

Why packaging designers need Spring

General-purpose design tools can't meet the specific demands of packaging:

  • Complex artwork mapping to physical forms
  • Specialised material and finish considerations
  • Maintaining brand consistency across diverse formats

Spring was intentionally built to address these unique needs, empowering designers to create better work, faster. We watched 1000s of hours of footage of designers using an astonishingly large number of different tools, some with AI, some without, which has driven all of the decisions we’ve made when crafting the Spring toolkit.

Beyond technology: A vision for the future

Just as photography transformed storytelling by capturing reality, AI is transforming packaging design by reshaping creativity. The technology itself isn't revolutionary—what it enables is. We're building Spring to give packaging designers the tools to create remarkable, impactful work, effortlessly bridging concept and reality.

Our vision is a world where packaging designers spend less time navigating tools and more time exploring new possibilities. Spring is designed to facilitate exactly that.
